Nowadays, a serious phenomenon appears that large quantities of children, especially those who are under 10, have had myopia, which brings about the large demands of myopic glasses. To alleviate the tension, a good many measures should be taken, because the health of children is the cardinal task of the nation. By eating eye-care foods, it remains a wonderful method to defend our children’s eyes.Eating fish could protect eyes, which has been confirmed by scientists, as eating fish is favorable to prevent macular degeneration. Some cold-water fishes like halibut, herring and salmon, whose adipose contain a great deal of EPA and DHA, which has the capability of preventing eyesight from falling down.
A range of kinds of vegetable are capable of defending eyes, for the reason of that they have abundant carotene, which is the precursor of vitamin A. And vitamin A is a necessary substance for our eyes. With higher levels of carotene, Alfalfa, pea sprouts, leeks, carrots and other green vegetables are helpful for our eyes.
Moreover, foods contain calcium is recommended to myopia. According to medical experts, lacking of calcium is an important factor causing myopia. Studies have shown that eyes seem as a plastic bag full of water, and if lacking of calcium, the hydraulic fluctuated will not maintain the normal state. Many foods and drinks contain calcium, such as milk, bean products, shrimp, and animal bones. In condition, it is better to match the calcium foods with animal liver, egg yolk, green vegetables and other foods which are rich in vitamin D, so that the calcium could be absorbed more completely.
Except of the element of calcium, chromium also plays an important role in maintaining the balance of osmotic pressure of eyes. According to experts, children need 50-200 micrograms of chromium every day. Cereals, meat, cheese and egg yolk are rich in chromium, they should be timely arranged for children.
Besides, children often eat hard foods is propitious to promote the development of visual acuity. Professor Funakoshi had done special investigation to find that children seldom use the lower part of their masseter muscle, which is the main trouble resource of vision abnormality. Carrots, fruit, cabbage, animal bones and beans, they are not only hard foods, but have abundant nutrients as well, so they are especially worthy of recommendation.
